ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – With students returning to school soon, Rockingham County Parks and Recreation is looking for help with its after-school program.
Rockingham County Parks and Recreation Department Director Kirby Dean said they have been running an after-school program for many years now, but this year the department is struggling to find enough staff to work. on the program.
Dean said the pandemic is most likely a contributing factor and they hope to publicize the staff position so the program can run smoothly.
“It has always been a very successful program. I took advantage of this before I joined parks and recreation. It’s a lifesaver for a lot of people like me who myself and my wife worked full time. We needed somewhere our child could go after school so we could feel safe and cared for,” Dean said.
The program runs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every weekday afternoon.
Dean said they were looking for candidates aged 16 and over.
You can apply for the position here under the position titled “leisure group leader”.
If you have any questions, you can call the Parks and Recreation Department at 540-564-3160.
