SAMBALPUR: The management committee of VSS panchayat high school, Bargaon, in Maneswar block of Sambalpur district, alleged that the school was inaugurated even though the works under the government’s 5T school transformation program are not not finished yet. The school was among 25 others in the district dedicated to the people by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Chairman of the management committee, Subash Panigrahi, said that while the toilets have already been built, the septic tank has not yet been built. Work on the garden, perimeter wall, staircase, school road connecting the main gate and other construction works are also underway but the school has been inaugurated, he said. he says.
Panigrahi said the school transformation program is a commendable initiative by the government of Odisha. “But our school should have been inaugurated after the completion of the works. We had also informed the authorities of the unfinished works but despite this, the school was inaugurated on Tuesday,” he added.
Work on the electronic library has already been completed, but the school has not yet obtained computers for the library. The school’s playground remains to be developed, said a school teacher on condition of anonymity.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Maneswar Nilambara Mahanand has refuted the allegations.
“The school had received Rs 35 lakh. Out of the total funds, about Rs 15 lakh was spent on purchasing new furniture for the school. And the rest of the funds were spent on developing an electronic library , a laboratory, a smart classroom and other works. .
