A group of students from Eisenhower Elementary School recently had the chance to hang out with some local celebrities.
Warren County Dairy Princess Veronica Ludwick and Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Junior Princess Hialeah Stanton visited with students from the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Afterschool Program.
“All the children had the chance to learn how to create a sustainable farm”, according to program manager Christine Haslett. “They also played dairy trivia games where they learned lots of fun facts like ‘you should have three dairy products a day’.”
“The kids learned so much about our local dairy industry from our Dairy Princess Veronica,” said Haslett. “Our Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Princess (PHSRA) Hialeah Stanton talked about all the different things that happen at the rodeo.”
The students even got to practice some rodeo events. “They were able to participate in some of the patterns of foot speed events such as barrel racing and pole bending,” said Haslett. “The kids really enjoyed PHSRA Princess Hialeah teaching them how to rope themselves with a real lasso.”

“We really appreciate the time these amazing local princesses have taken to speak and teach in the after-school program,” she says.
The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center program is fully funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
