FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham school committee unanimously approved the 2022-23 school calendar on Wednesday evening February 16.
The only unapproved item on the calendar was the graduation date for the class of 2023.
For the The graduation ceremony for the class of 2022 moves to a Friday evening, after its traditional Sunday afternoon ceremony. The superintendent had recommended seeing how the new format worked before putting a Friday night graduation on the class of 2023 schedule.
“We have maintained a format consistent with the current school year, including an identification of major religious and cultural holidays, as well as professional development, no school, election and no homework days. The District’s logo, colors and fonts have been updated to align with the District’s branding. This schedule takes into consideration the many factors that influence the final version of the school year, including contractual obligations, student learning time requirements, school day demands, parent conferences and needs. of professional development. The first day of school for students in grades 1-12 is August 31.
There will be a Grade 9 orientation for Framingham High students on August 30. The first day of school for kindergarten students would be September 1.
Labor Day is Monday, September 5.
The first day without homework is September 22.
The Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah is September 26 and there is no school.
The Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur is October 5 and there is no school.
The 180th school day, is proposed as Monday, June 20.
A professional development day is offered on Tuesday, November 8, election day. No school for students, but a school for staff. There will be a primary election on Tuesday, September 6, but school is offered on that day for staff and students.
