Huntsville Parks & Recreation to offer after-school program for 2022-23 school year

HUNTSVILLE Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Parks and Recreation is bringing back its afterschool program for the 2022-23 school year.

After a successful first year, Parks and Recreation Director James Gossett said the department can tell families urgently need more after-school programs.

“I think from the perspective of our department and even our staff, we want to do things that serve the community that the community needs, and their feedback tells us that they need it,” Gossett told News 19. “We think this program has really filled that need here in Huntsville.

As inflation continues to affect the costs of affordable daycare and after-school programs, Gossett hopes this option will bring some relief to local families.

A total of six slots are available for the register:

The cost is $20 per child and $10 per sibling each week from August to December. Fees are subject to change for the remainder of the school year.
