Gachibowli (Telangana) [India], October 17 (ANI/NewsSee): Oakridge International School, Gachibowli celebrated Mental Health Week from October 10-14, 2022 to highlight the importance of mental health and well-being. As the world enters the post-pandemic era and relies entirely on digital spaces to form a sense of community, several cases of mental health issues are emerging before us.
In India, 14% of people aged 15-24 need mental health interventions, according to a 2021 survey by UNICEF and Gallup. In this regard, it is crucial that educational institutions place a strong emphasis on meeting the social and emotional needs of students. Give them a safe space where they can feel heard without being judged. With this in mind, Oakridge Gachibowli ensures its students are prepared to transition into inclusive and emotionally healthy beings.
To observe Mental Health Week and spread the central theme of “Making mental health and well-being for all a global priority”, a series of interactive activities have been planned at Oakridge International School, Gachibowli . This week-long celebration focused on improving students’ social and emotional learning.
On World Mental Health Day, green ribbons were distributed to students and school staff to show their support for the cause and to mark the day. These green ribbons symbolized awareness and acceptance of mental health and wellness for all. A yoga session was conducted to maintain physical and mental well-being. The students also understood the importance of meditation. Additionally, understanding the impact of food on learners’ well-being, the school held a comfort food sale, where students sold homemade food.

Excited by the aspect of art bringing comfort to the spirit, the students enjoyed the graffiti creation activity. Junior students were seen taking part in the Inclusion Parade and leading the ‘we are unique, we are united’ relay.
Stressing the importance of student mental health and well-being, Jasjit Kaur, Primary Program Manager, said, “A child’s happiness quotient is fundamental to their growth. This week, we created a cohesive environment where students could learn simple ways to improve their well-being and help create a safe space for all.”
Oakridge International School, Gachibowli, part of Nord Anglia Education, encourages students to become inclusive individuals and future leaders. With the expert set of faculty and class outside of the IBDP program, students get the most out of their learning experience.
