The following letter to the editor does not reflect the views of Wayland Patch
As parents of three young children in the Wayland school system, we fully support and support Erin Gibbons for the school committee. When we learned that Erin was going to run for the school committee, we knew she would be the perfect person for this role.
As the mother of four wonderful children who range from kindergarten to high school, Erin is invested and knowledgeable about the past, present and future of our school system and its students. Erin’s deep commitment is evident through her years of volunteer work on several school councils (she currently serves in high school), as well as devoting her time as a committee member to research as manager and assistant manager at Happy Hollow. Erin has served as a PTO liaison, served on the superintendent’s task force, coaches youth soccer, and is very supportive of Wayland athletics.
Erin’s work experience as a lawyer will also serve her well as a member of the school committee. Erin is experienced in assessing risk, analyzing diverse viewpoints, resolving disagreements and building consensus, and navigating municipal committees and processes.
Above all, what strikes us the most is his character. She is open-minded, fair, curious, respectful and positive. She will be a spokesperson for our students, a voice of reason, a problem solver, and will work tirelessly to be a unifying force for our community. She will do the job.
Our children will be at Wayland Schools for many years to come and we are honored to support, endorse and vote for Erin Gibbons on May 10 for the School Committee.
